Microsoft has launched it's new range of certifications, targeted at the .NET framework 2.0. This new series of certifications looks to address some of the shortcomings of the old one: not all qualifications are exam-based (the "Architect" qualification requires a viva), and some require periodic recerification.

The first exams are due in 2006; it'll be interesting to see what the takeup is like.
